Photographed in November, 2023 on the south ridge of Brandywine Mountain in the Sea to Sky region of BC. Generally speaking, the first backcountry ski trip of the season consists of slow, muddy bootpacking rewarded with half a dozen survival turns. This season-opener could not have been further from that. Glorious powder turns in an already very wintery scape. Newborn cornices are pictured here - formed from the wind on the ridgelines of mountains, separating the leeward and windward aspects.
